By train: Tenri is a little more than an hour on the train from both Osaka and Kyoto, and accessible via both JR and Kintetsu lines.

By car:
Tenri City is accessible by car via the Tenri IC and Koriyama IC on the Nishi-Meihan Expressway, the Tenri Higashi IC and the Fukusumi IC on the Meihan Expressway, and the Koriyama Minami IC on the Keinawa Expressway.
From Osaka about 45 min.: Osaka City Center > Matsubara JCT > Nishi-Meihan Expressway > Tenri IC
From Kyoto about 90 min.: Kyoto City Center > Daini Keihan Road > Keinawa Expressway > Joyo JCT > Nara Bypass > Keinawa Expressway/ Nat. Hwy 24 > Tenri City
From Nagoya about 120 min.: Nagoya City Center > Nagoya Nishi JCT > Higashi Meihan Expressway > Meihan Expressway > Tenri IC
By bus:
From Kansai International Airport: Take a Limousine Bus bound for JR Nara Station (about 2 hours, 40 min.). From JR Nara Station, you can take the #92 bus on the Nara Kotsu Bus Line for Tenri Station (about 40 min.). You can also take the JR Manyo Mahoroba Line for Sakurai, and get off at JR Ichinomoto Station, JR Tenri Station, JR Nagara Station, or JR Yanagimoto Station (about 16 min.).
Nara Kotsu Bus line has a number of buses that come to Tenri, from Nara City, Sakurai City, and other places. Please check the Nara Kotsu Bus website for details about lines and timetables.
